The Power of ONE!
And it goes something like this... the main character is a boy who grows up in racist apartheid pre war South Africa.
He befriends black Africans and learns their ways as well as the ways of the animal kingdom.
But he is orphaned and has to go to a very strict boarding school that is dominated by white racist Afrikaners.
He is bullied as an English speaking person and despite this he excels in his academia and in his chosen sport...which is boxing...
And as he grows he becomes a better boxer and eventually wins...
the book is better than the movie which stars our hero Morgan Freeman and Mr Gielgud. But the message is what I wanted to talk about here in this blog...
We are alone in this world but we have people that believe in us and our dreams... sometimes no body believes in us... and we have to walk alone... and this is what the story tells us to do... walk alone because within us individually within the ONE...
there is a great power...
Elon Musk during a hard time in his career worked 80 to 120 hours a week sleeping on the floor of Tesla to ensure they would be able to get through the stage of innovation to mass production...
-innovating machines to build machines and learning about every single part of the car he was making.
He wasnt a car maker he was more a tek person... software... but he applied his mind and his energy to perfect a vehicle that would become the first car company in 100 years to succeed the cut throat competitive scaling up of mass production.
That is the power of ONE.
I myself have experienced this before a few times... when you start a great project most people will laugh at you or try to put you off... in fact you have to ask yourself the question... why am i killing myself ? Why am I doing it? Its not as if this ONE is everyone saying..
YES- Elon.. YOU CAN MAKE THIS FANTASTIC CAR ...
or YES - You can build a political party from nothing and bring down a corrupt president... or YES... you can go overland through Africa all the way to London...
or YES... you can build and travel on a solar powered vehicle through Kenya to prove the functionality of solar power and win an innovation prize against all smart universities in the world... or YES...
you can make a peace gathering in the middle of the Sahara... or YES... you can create an entire new low impact technology that can empower millions of poor people...in Africa and elsewhere...
you can rewild the planet..
Nobody is going to hand it to you on a plate...unless your name is Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg... and you have the support network of angel investors who believe in your ability.
Yes .. they all believed in themselves and their product... but there is a difference... yes they all worked consistently hard to achieve their goals... but they had backup.
They had support from an established network. I know because its much easier to achieve something with the backing of a university than it is on your own.
Sometimes... if you honestly want to see something become manifested you need to be the one who takes responsibility for it to be done how you see it in your minds eye...
That is the POWER of One...
Imagine Henry Ford had been a board of directors... Do you think it would have become a successful car company? No. It wouldn't .
There was a point in the process when Henry himself had to be the one to make certain decisions...
(Just like Gandhi after he was thrown off the train outside Pietermaritzburg.
-Enough...is enough!)
In fact there is an early story of Ford being asked by a journalist... " What gives you the right to be a car maker? What degree do you have in mechanical or electrical engineering?
What makes you be able to know when and how to make any decision? Are you an architect? A designer? A lawyer? A marketer?
Ford thought about it for a moment from behind his large desk and then replied...
" You see all these buttons in front of me... ? The journalist said YES... well... when I need an accountant... not just any accountant.. but the best one..
I push this button... and he asks me? " What do you want me to do? - And I TELL HIM... because that is what I pay him for...
("because inside my mind I have an evolving picture of the finished product and the innate desire to paint it in this reality"-ALV )
And the same goes for the engineer ..the lawyer and any other specialist on my payroll... I am just the guy who makes the final decision.
Because somebody has to and im the one they will blame if I make a wrong one. The buck stops with me!"- That's my qualification.
Now we see this today as a pyramidic governance structure and it has its pros and its cons... but imagine if there was something you wanted to see happen in the world...
Imagine Mother Theresa didnt get out of bed because she thought she could NOT make it as a nun and wasnt able to go to India and feed the poor in Calcutta-or Brother Roger not stopping for dinner in Taize but just becoming an ordinary monk.
- or Nelson Mandela thinking... What difference can I make...? I'm just one person. And just keep smashing rocks all day until they told him its " hometime"...!- and he became institutionalised.
Imagine if he just gave up...or left the responsibility to governing South Africa- and stopping a blood bath to somebody else...
Or Marie Curie saying to herself.. I'm just a woman.. I cant figure this question out( how to cure cancer or never discovered polonium )..
we will have to leave it to more experienced scientists that have a better education than me...
or Alexander Fleming just gave up trying to discover antibiotics to treate soldiers with infections and never discovered penicillin...or Dr Sabin and Salk giving up on a vacine for polio because it was too hard.
Imagine there was no Adolf Hitler... Imagine that he said... "well I'll leave politics to someone else who has been to law school or is a higher rank".. and instead becomung an artist in Munich.
Now even in the negative... there is still an inherent "power of one."- we are placed each of us on this Earth to remove the veil of what you can be not what you are or are not.
Imagine that there was no Second World War and thus nobody going to Israel - its a domino effect. ... and nobody throwing an H bomb on Nagazaki... and no holocaust.
and no United Nations or no Elenor Roosevelt -or Jan Smuts and no Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Someone has to take responsibility for the wrong or injustices they see and do something about it. Or no Fletcher Christian... and no mutiny on the Bounty.
We are makers of history as much as dreams.
These are tales that ALL have ONE common thread...
THE POWER OF ONE.
Or create the innovation that needs to fulfil a common human need. Like a paper clip.
Imagine Truman didnt have to make that decision...
or Churchill staying as a journalist and never getting into politics...
or John Newton staying as a slave trader... we could go on... and on.
Jesus staying in Nazareth as a carpenter.. or Buddha never leaving the city gates not seeing the old man...
or the prophet Muhammed simply keeping his visions to himself in the cave...or just becoming a normal trader.
Like everyone else.
If we let things simply take their course... would that mean something good or bad?
If human beings think they cannot act because it has to happen in a collective mind not in an individual mind... then what is the point at all in doing anything of note?
But the truth is ..all of these people lived according to the power of one.
They lived and breathed something that they had seen in the ether that convinced them that they could change the existing paradigms.
Imagine a vision for peace remained just a vision and there was no rainbow family after Gareth Beck visited the Sahara.
And whilst there is great good in working as a team with other and not with your own ego... there is also the realisation that within us there is a NUCLEAR POWER plant that has the boundless energy to change the world with our energy and our ideas...
And this is why ... you cannot be dissuaded by others... by their silly criticisms and downplaying...by their sick jokes and their suppressive behaviour their bullying and their attacks... because if you are... when what you fear happens happens... you will ask yourself the question...
WHY DID I NOT DO ANYTHING ?
What happened to my " fearless" - what happened to my dreams? and what happened to my integrity? Why do I feel I should have done something? why do I feel regret?
Why didnt I at least try ???
Now ... you can of course simply let go -and let it flow down the river... just say.. well.. its too hard.. or I dont have enough money... or I am too old.. or too white... or too black... or too male..or too female...or too fat... or too entitled...or too stupid... or just too lazy...the list of I cant do this is endless.
-whatever excuse you want to tell your software..that brain why you cant do something...and the bullshit stories its telling you... if you want to feed the fire.. go ahead and feed it...
But - if you want to start by reprogramming your mind every morning and saying...
YES... I CAN DO IT... and start Unlearning the societal programming...
-dont think about how hard you will have to work... or how long... or how many friends you will lose on the way... or even your family ... but think about this...
THE POWER OF ONE.
your "fearless"!
You have been either given this great opportunity to help human evolution and progress and manifest it... or you havent.
Do not accept your fate but write your own history in all of its colours.
Too many people get caught in the net of saying.. "o ego is a bad thing "
Truth is... nobody is forcing you. Truth is everyone will think you were lucky. Even though you worked yourself to the bone ,or took too many chances. Human endevour and freedom requires individuals who stand up and say:
" YES.. I CAN !"
Truth is you could just say NO and let someone else in the pecking order do it... nobody says you should go anticlockwise.
There are no hard set and fast rules... but one thing is clear... we are put on this earth plane for something.
We have all an ego. Reinforced Positive Ego is not bad. You need it sometimes or we would all become homogenous vegetables ...sheep.
"you do the world no favors by hiding your light, therefore let your light shine before men and show who you truly are "
Being YOU is ok.
Being the best you -not a mirage of you is even better. Do not waste any time pretending what and who you are not.
You are a part of the Universal You.
The COLLECTIVE SUPERCONSCIOUS!
And as such you have a job to do.
" now you see in part as through a glass .. but in times to come as you go from glory to glory .. you will see in full- and ALL will be revealed !"
We all have our part to play in this holly "good"-movie.
Some of us just to exist... and get along... and thats ok... but some of us come to this point of realisation... and say OK...
I AM THE ONE WHO IS GOING TO DO IT...
( I can only take responsibility for what I inherently know- I must try- I must have faith- I must believe )
THATS THE POWER OF ONE
